Social problems of migration
In recent years, Caritas activity pertaining to migration processes has increased, in particular in relation to problematic issues related to migration, such as illegal immigration, human trafficking, slavery, intolerable conditions of Ukrainian illegal immigrants abroad, as well as the hardship conditions of illegal emigrants from other countries in Ukraine.

Active labour migration has a serious detrimental effect on social problems within Ukraine. With the large numbers of young people departing the country, there are negative demographic consequences due to the resulting low birth-rate in Ukraine. Migration also leads to the disintegration of moral values, specifically family relations. Ukraine is confronted with an absolutely new problem - the social orphan, where one or both parents work abroad while their children are brought up at best, by relatives, although often there is a need for state care. The elderly are also in a dire situation; with their children working abroad, there is no one left to care for them but the state, and in some cases, charitable organizations.

It is also a fact that Ukraine is affected by worldwide migration processes - because the country is situated on the eastern border of the European Union, by default, it  becomes a shelter for thousands of  immigrants trying to reach Western Europe or looking for protection in Ukraine.
